The City Police of Buenos Aires arrested two thieves today in the Villa Soldati neighborhood. During their escape, the thieves threw their weapons into a trash bin, one of which had been stolen from a member of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police. The operation took place on Avenida Lacarra at 3400, following a 911 call about two armed men who were threatening a resident. When officers from the 8B Neighborhood Police Commissariat arrived, they observed the suspects attempting to flee and, after a brief chase, apprehended them. At the time of their arrest, they were not carrying any weapons, so the police conducted a thorough search of the area, finding the firearms inside a trash bin in the yard of the neighborhood, in front of the building: two 9mm caliber Bersa pistols, one of which had an official inscription from the Buenos Aires Provincial Police. Both individuals have extensive criminal records. The 31-year-old man has charges for simple theft (2016), carrying a war weapon without authorization (2025), resisting authority (2025), drug possession for personal use (2025), minor injuries (2024, 2019), negligent injuries (2024), and a 2019 arrest warrant. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has a record for concealment (2018), illegal carrying of a war weapon (2025), and attempted theft (2017). The criminals were detained and are at the disposal of the National Prosecutor's Office for Criminal and Correctional Affairs, under the charge of carrying a war weapon without authorization.
