Debate Over Ficha Limpia Law Intensifies in Buenos Aires

The hours leading up to the session in the Senate Chamber to discuss the Ficha Limpia bill were marked by a confrontation of different positions in Casa Rosada regarding the votes the government has for its approval. On one hand, there is a sector of the government that claims the votes are there and that the approval is a certainty, while there are pessimistic voices doubting the support, particularly targeting the PRO.

In the libertarian bloc, there is optimism, with the order to gather in the chamber to session and the conviction that the project will be approved. The leader of the libertarian bloc, Ezequiel Atauche, expressed his confidence by stating that "the numbers for tomorrow are there" and that, barring unexpected events, Ficha Limpia will be approved.

The Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos, also showed confidence that there will be a session and enough votes for approval. Moreover, it is suggested that the PRO aims to gain political advantage from a potential defeat in Congress, capitalizing on it in the campaign led by Lospennato.

On the other hand, Lospennato, appointed by Macri to confront the government at the local level, carries the Ficha Limpia issue as her banner and focuses her campaign on this initiative. Meanwhile, Patricia Bullrich's transfer to La Libertad Avanza marks her definitive break with the PRO.

Regarding the votes, there is optimism in some sectors, but there are also those who believe that the law will be approved after the elections on May 18 to avoid political benefits for certain candidates. Despite the discrepancies, the government trusts it will have the necessary votes for the approval of Ficha Limpia in the Senate session.
