Abal Medina Discusses Housing and Security in Buenos Aires

The lawyer and candidate for the legislative position in Buenos Aires from the Just, Free, and Sovereign space, Juan Manuel Abal Medina, announced the fundamental points of his platform for the upcoming elections. He focused on the issue of housing, the reurbanization of popular neighborhoods, and security in the City of Buenos Aires, noting that the current reality is increasingly painful and that it is necessary to take action.

In a statement, Abal Medina expressed his concern about the difficulty for residents to rent homes and make ends meet. He proposed extending minimum rental periods, establishing maximum prices by neighborhood, incentivizing those who put properties for rent, and taxing owners with vacant homes. Additionally, he advocated for facilitating access to home ownership through a mixed fund between Banco Ciudad and private entities.

The candidate also referred to the situation of homeless individuals, advocating for providing them with a dignified place and reiterating that it is a matter of social justice. In this regard, he stated that it is the government's duty to care for and assist these individuals.

Abal Medina proposed the creation of an Innovation and Development agency to integrate the work of scientists and professionals with the work of SMEs, seeking to merge science and technology with productive sectors. He criticized the lack of attention to productive development in the City and advocated for policies that guarantee labor rights in new forms of work, such as app-based deliveries.

Regarding education and public health, the candidate denounced the constant budget cuts they have faced, which have led to a scarcity of resources and precarious staffing in hospitals and schools. He also criticized the policies that have made jobs in the state and private sectors precarious, promoting outsourcing and temporary contracts that undermine labor rights.

Finally, Abal Medina addressed the issues of Security and Justice, emphasizing the need for more criminal intelligence to reduce theft and crime. He stated that Justice must be an accessible public service for all and advocated for a comprehensive plan that includes community participation and guarantees rights in areas such as infrastructure, health, education, and public transportation.
