
During the 187th Board Meeting of the Argentine Association of Journalistic Entities (ADEPA), Martín Etchevers emphasized the importance of press freedom and the sustainability of media. In this meeting, Etchevers presented his report on the current state of journalism in Argentina, stressing the need to invest in training and new skills to maintain competitive newsrooms in the digital age.
Etchevers highlighted the relevance of strengthening the bond with audiences, underscoring that in times of misinformation, media must reinforce their credibility to be points of trust for society. He also emphasized the importance of collaborations with media and academic institutions to promote journalistic training and the creation of programs addressing public interest issues.
In this regard, Marcelo Álvarez, Executive Director of Government Affairs for South America at Barrick Gold, stressed the importance of sustainability to ensure informational plurality and democratic debate. Álvarez emphasized that the economic viability of media is fundamental to maintaining a diversity of voices in journalism.
During the meeting, future challenges of journalism were also discussed, especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence in this industry. Etchevers expressed his gratitude to collaborators and highlighted the importance of working together to promote serious and responsible journalism, crucial for the progress of Argentina.
Additionally, the remodeling of the Argentine Press Auditorium was inaugurated, a space for institutional activities founded in 1988 at the ADEPA headquarters. The renovations focused on improving the comfort of attendees, as well as optimizing the lighting system and audiovisual equipment of the auditorium. Etchevers thanked the collaboration of ADEPA's institutional partners, Pan American Energy (PAE) and Barrick Gold, for their support in this renewal process.
