This morning, businessman Marcos Galperin expressed his support for the government of Javier Milei following the disturbances that occurred yesterday in front of the Congress and in Plaza de Mayo. Galperin questioned those who, in the past, regarded Milei as a threat to democracy.
"I remember that there was a group of 'NGOs and intellectuals' who said that Milei was a risk to democracy..." the founder, president, and CEO of Mercado Libre quipped in a social media message.
Galperin showed his support for Milei by retweeting a post from presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, which denounced the attack on the Casa Rosada with stones thrown by protesters in remembrance of the pandemic victims.
After the incidents in front of Congress, protesters moved to Plaza de Mayo and threw hundreds of stones at the facade of the Government House while clashing with the police. These stones, which symbolized the fatal victims of Covid-19, had been placed during the pandemic as a tribute to the deceased.
The attackers displayed a complete lack of respect for the symbolism of the stones placed in memory of those who lost their lives due to the coronavirus.
