Protest Against Repression in Buenos Aires

The Secretary General of ATE in Buenos Aires City, Daniel Catalano, has expressed his concern over the repression that occurred during a protest involving retirees, football fans, unions, and political organizations near the Congress. In an interview with Splendid AM 990, Catalano stated that the Government must understand that repression does not improve the situation of the people and emphasized the lack of dialogue from the authorities.

Catalano pointed out that there are no valid interlocutors to discuss with, and if a solution is not found, a new mobilization is anticipated next week. He criticized the use of repression as a tool and stressed that the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, should address the situation effectively.

The union leader highlighted that repression does not solve problems and called for a change in the way these situations are handled. Catalano emphasized the difficulties faced by retirees, who are forced to choose between eating once a day or buying medication. He stressed the precarious situation in which many sectors of society find themselves and the need to find solutions that do not invoke violence.
