Hundreds of people participated in a saucepan protest in different places across Argentina to condemn police repression during the protest of retirees in front of Congress. The demonstration had a strong impact in neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, such as Colegiales, Villa Crespo, Ramos Mejía, Caballito, Avellaneda, Palermo, and Lugano, as well as in cities in the interior of the country.
The protest was called by various political and social sectors through social media, including former deputy of the Left Front, Myriam Bregman, after images of the clashes between protesters and security forces were circulated. Participants expressed their rejection of the actions of the Federal Police and the City Police, who used tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets to disperse the protest.
The day of protest by retirees, supported by football fans and social organizations, left several injured and detained, including photographer Pablo Grillo, who suffered a serious head injury from the impact of a tear gas canister.
