Cristina Kirchner Criticizes Javier Milei's IMF Loan Request

Former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner criticized the current government for resorting to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) due to the shortage of dollars. According to her, this decision demonstrates the critical situation in which the country finds itself. Kirchner compared the situation to the management of her late husband, Néstor Kirchner, who paid off the entire debt with the IMF in 2005 and warned Milei about the danger of exchanging "cheap debt" for "more expensive debt" with the IMF.

In a note published by Milei in La Nación, the President defended the agreement with the IMF and Kirchner sarcastically questioned whether the IMF would request a devaluation before or after the elections. Furthermore, the former president denied Milei's claim of being the first government to have a surplus while paying off the debt.

Kirchner also criticized Milei's stance regarding the Central Bank and the contradictions in his arguments about the loan, accusing him of lying about the economic situation and being desperate for the lack of dollars. Finally, Kirchner highlighted the supposed success of her management during the "winning decade" and disqualified the political chances of Milei and his sister.

The former head of state expressed her opinion on social media, confronting Milei for repeating the strategies of Mauricio Macri and equating internal debt with external debt to the IMF. She recalled the cancellation of the debt with the IMF during Néstor Kirchner's administration and stated that Kirchnerism is the only political force in the history of Argentina that has completed three consecutive terms, suggesting that Milei and his sister will not achieve a similar accomplishment.
