Former President Mauricio Macri intervened in the internal conflict of Javier Milei's government and the City Government over the transfer of prisoners from the federal system. During an event at the Higher Institute of Public Safety, Macri demanded that the National Ministry of Security fulfill its "responsibility" and develop a plan with a specific timeline for transferring prisoners to federal prisons, emphasizing that "police stations are not jails."

In his statements, Macri supported the management of the City Mayor, Jorge Macri, who is at odds with the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, following the escape of prisoners from the city's jails. Macri urged Bullrich to establish a defined timeline for relocating prisoners held in city police stations to Federal Penitentiary Service facilities, arguing that police resources should be dedicated to protecting citizens rather than inmates.

"The nearly 27,000 police officers in the City must ensure the safety of the streets and citizens, not prisoners. The Ministry of Security and the Federal Penitentiary Service must take their responsibility," emphasized Jorge Macri.
