On March 11, an important session will be held in which various projects in Congress will be addressed, including the questioning of the Chief of the Cabinet, Guillermo Francos, the creation of a bicameral investigative commission, and the political trial against Milei.
The absence of several governors stands out, such as Axel Kicillof, Ricardo Quintela, and Gildo Insfrán, who have decided not to participate in the session for different reasons, including disagreements with the Government. During the day, it is expected that the president will review the achievements reached in 2024, focusing especially on economic and security issues.
One of the highlights will be the presence of the new Supreme Court judge, Manuel García-Mansilla, who generated a strong reaction in the opposition after taking office last week. It is also expected that the Chamber of Deputies will have a 50% attendance, as some sectors of the opposition have announced their absence as a form of protest.
To counteract the lack of legislators, the ruling party plans to fill the galleries with supporters, mostly young people backed by Karina Milei. Some governors, such as Gustavo Melella and Sergio Ziliotto, will also not attend due to commitments in the opening of provincial sessions.
In addition, controversy has arisen regarding the process of selecting judges and the lack of agreements between the ruling party and the opposition on certain appointments, which has led to the anticipation of a lack of senators and deputies in the assembly.
On another note, Javier Milei is expected to kick off the 143rd period of ordinary sessions of Congress this Saturday, with the presence of 95 accredited media and a total of 187 individuals authorized to cover the assembly. The president will deliver a speech focused on the economic achievements of his term and the presentation of new projects.
The Legislative Assembly, scheduled for 9:00 PM, will include a security operation that will feature barriers around Congress and traffic blockades in nearby areas, with a podium set up for Milei's speech. The president is expected to speak for approximately 45 minutes, presenting more than 30 projects for the coming year.
