Tensions Rise in Argentine Government After Cabinet Meetings

President Javier Milei has decided to exclude Vice President Victoria Villarruel from the upcoming dinner to be held at the Casa Rosada after the ceremony in which he will deliver a speech at the opening of the Legislative Assembly next Saturday. Although they will see each other during the inauguration of the ordinary sessions where she, as the head of the Senate, will be the host, Milei prefers to maintain a formal protocol and wants Villarruel to be absent from the celebration after the speech in Congress.

The president will call the full Cabinet, as well as the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, but has excluded the vice president due to the tense relationship they have maintained since the beginning of his term. The dinner at the Casa Rosada will take place after Milei addresses the legislators and guests, and will include the presence of select officials close to the president.

Villarruel's absence from this event is explained by arguing that the invitation is directed only to the Cabinet, although the presence of Martín Menem contradicts this argument. The president and his running mate have had disagreements throughout his administration, reaching a critical point when Milei mentioned that she is closer to the political elite in many matters and revealed that she chooses not to attend Cabinet meetings.

In summary, Victoria Villarruel will not be present at the dinner following Javier Milei's speech at the opening of the Legislative Assembly, where the attendance of select Cabinet members is expected and a formal protocol will be maintained with the vice president, reflecting the tense relationship between the two since the beginning of the term.
