Former president and leader of the PRO, Mauricio Macri, expressed criticisms towards President Javier Milei's decision to appoint federal judge Ariel Lijo and professor Manuel García-Mansilla by decree, and temporarily for a year, to fill vacancies in the Supreme Court. Macri reaffirmed his position that judges in the highest positions of the Judiciary should not be subject to such widespread rejection. He indicated that the appointment of judges through a mechanism like the one implemented by the government is not appropriate based on his empirical experience.
Regarding the call made by Macri for a meeting at the headquarters in Balcarce, Buenos Aires City, the aim was to outline a Macrist electoral front in Buenos Aires, excluding La Libertad Avanza (LLA). Present at the meeting were national deputies Diego Santilli and Cristian Ritondo, the City’s Chief of Government, Jorge Macri, and the mayor of Vicente López, Soledad Martínez.
"Trust in justice and institutions is an indispensable condition for the stability of democracy and the prosperity of the country," emphasized Mauricio Macri in a statement published around 11 PM. In the same statement, Macri expressed that his position represents the majority within the PRO, as evidenced by a report prepared by the Pensar Foundation. Governors Ignacio Torres of Chubut, Rogelio Frigerio of Entre Ríos, and national deputy María Eugenia Vidal, who were expected to be present, did not attend the meeting.
