Cristina Fernández Leads Key Meeting Amid Political Tensions

The president will offer a message in the evening, at 9 PM, in a nationwide broadcast. His speech comes in a political context marked by internal divisions within the ruling party and criticisms from the opposition. The call for the speech coincided with a significant anniversary for Peronism.

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner presided over her first meeting as leader of the National Justicialist Party. The meeting took place at the historic headquarters on Matheu Street 130 in Balvanera, Buenos Aires. Present at the meeting were José Mayans, Lucía Corpacci, Germán Martínez, Mariel Fernández, and Ricardo Pignanelli, among other party leaders.

The Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof, accompanied by a group of mayors from the province of Buenos Aires, challenged the centralized leadership of the PJ, creating tension within the ruling party. In this context, José Mayans announced that the Peronist legislators will not attend the Legislative Assembly on March 1. Mayans expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of progress on key issues, such as the establishment of an investigative committee on "cryptogate" and the treatment of the National Budget.

For his part, Javier Milei is scheduled to give his opening speech for the regular sessions of Congress on the same March 1.
