The United States Justice is considering a possible reversal of the ruling that obligated the Argentine State to pay 16 billion dollars to the US fund Burford for the nationalization of YPF in 2008. Judge Loretta Preska opened a consultation to the parties in the process after receiving a complaint that questions her ruling.
Deputy Maximiliano Ferraro from the Civic Coalition ARI has emphasized the importance of the quick response from the Argentine Government to this inquiry, as it could result in a favorable scenario for the country in the lawsuit regarding the privatization of YPF. The submission that triggered this situation was made by the civil organization Republican Action for Argentina (RAFA), with the support of Elisa CarriĆ³ and the Civic Coalition.
Marcela Campagnoli, national deputy for the Civic Coalition ARI, urged the Government and YPF to respond before the deadline set by Judge Loretta Preska, which expires on February 25. The goal is to effectively respond to the judicial request and seize the opportunity to overturn the multimillion-dollar ruling against Argentina, which would represent a significant saving for the country.
In this context, it is expected that the response from the Argentine Government will be submitted before the established deadline to avoid the ratification of the payment of 16 billion dollars. The proper management of this situation could lead to a positive outcome for Argentina, thanks to the legal action undertaken by RAFA and the support of political figures such as Elisa CarriĆ³ and Maximiliano Ferraro.
