
Two of the six fugitives who escaped from the 3rd Police Station in Balvanera were recaptured this Wednesday, making three the total number of escaped individuals who have returned to prison after the escape on February 18. On Wednesday night, members of the Captures and Fugitives Division of the City Police reported that José Ignacio Soria was recaptured on Anchorena Street at 100. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that his capture was achieved after he was located while circulating in public. 'The detainee will be made available to the Justice to respond for the crime of escape, in addition to the original charges for which he was detained,' they detailed.
Meanwhile, the Division also managed to detain Nahuel Fabián Méndez later on Bartolomé Mitre Street at 3100, in the Balvanera neighborhood. The first of the six fugitives to be captured was Matías Álvarez, hours after the escape that occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday. Now, they still need to find Martín Alfredo Maldonado Villalobo, Díaz Contreras, and Solís Rojas.
The last three are of Chilean nationality. This latest escape is the third in 10 days that the City has faced, which has a significant problem due to overcrowding in the police stations. In light of this new situation, Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and Government Chief Jorge Macri spoke by phone and agreed to transfer 400 prisoners with sentences who are housed in police stations in Capital Federal. Two of them are serving life sentences for homicides.
