Argentine President Javier Milei initiates an investigation into the LIBRA cryptocurrency project following controversies on social media. It will be assessed whether illegal activities were involved and the conduct of officials will be investigated.

The Office of the Presidency informed that Davis has no ties to the Argentine government. All information gathered during the investigation will be sent to Justice to determine possible illicit activities related to the KIP Protocol project, according to Blumberg stated abroad.

Regarding Milei, it was clarified that he did not participate in the development of the cryptocurrency and chose to withdraw the publication of the project to avoid speculation. The statement certifies that he was not involved in the process.

The controversy originated in October 2023 when Milei met with representatives of KIP Protocol, Mauricio Novelli and Julián Peh, who presented a plan based on blockchain technology to finance private ventures in Argentina. Subsequently, in January 2025, the president held a meeting at the Casa Rosada with Hayden Mark Davis, the provider of technological infrastructure according to KIP Protocol.

The creation of a Research Task Unit (UTI) to gather information from various government agencies specialized in crypto-assets, finance, and money laundering was confirmed. President Milei assured his commitment to the truth and requested the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Office to investigate any misconduct by officials, including himself.
