The Government of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA) has implemented changes to the driver's license with the aim of simplifying the experience for porteno drivers. The measure modified the validity of the license so that it can be presented through the miBA application.
The government of Jorge Macri incorporated the license to the miBA application with the goal of 'simplifying the experience for the neighbors.' 'We continue to build an agile and modern State that simplifies life and offers innovative solutions,' explained the head of the Buenos Aires government.
Drivers wishing to view the record in the miBA application must follow these steps: Download the miBA application on a mobile phone (it can be Android or iPhone), verify their identity with the corresponding data, and complete the biometric test. Once these steps are completed, the license will be shown in the 'My Documents' section. If one wishes to complete the process in person, they must request an appointment at the communal office and come with their ID.
This means that drivers will be able to access the record from mobile devices. The document will hold the same validity as the physical driver's license and can be presented at traffic controls in the City. With the digital license, we take one more step in that direction. Similarly, it can be used for identification if requested by local Police.
To process the driver's license in CABA, drivers must resolve outstanding traffic fines and infractions, pay the National Traffic Record Certificate (CENAT) with their ID, start the process online, schedule an appointment for traffic education course, request an appointment to complete the process at the office for a psychophysical, theoretical, and practical exam, apply for the Criminal Record Certificate (only for category D - Professionals), pay the processing fee through the Smart Unique Bill (BUI) of $22,690, and confirm the appointment.
