The political party La Libertad Avanza (LLA) recently announced the expulsion of the Buenos Aires legislator Ramiro Marra due to his vote in favor of the tax increase in the City of Buenos Aires, a measure that was not in line with the principles of President Javier Milei. The official statement emphasized that those who do not comply with the President's agenda will be expelled, regardless of their position or role within the party.
Marra, considered one of Miles's closest allies since the creation of La Libertad Avanza, was irreversibly expelled, causing surprise in the political arena. The decision to expel seems related to internal conflicts involving Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency and sister of the president, which has further complicated the atmosphere within the party.
The LLA statement indicates that Ramiro Marra is no longer part of the party at the national level or in any district of the country due to not following the party's guidelines, revealing internal tensions within the organization. Other prominent members, such as Eugenio Caselles and Jorge Reta, also voted in favor of the tax increase, suggesting an internal rift in La Libertad Avanza.
The situation is exacerbated by the strong opposition of the ruling party to the increase in public spending and the tax burdens imposed by the head of the Buenos Aires government, Jorge Macri. These internal tensions had previously manifested with the dismissal of Marra as head of the LLA bloc in the Buenos Aires Legislature, further worsening the situation within the party.
