Commemoration of Nisman: A Decade of Impunity

A decade after prosecutor Nisman’s murder, a commemorative event was held in Buenos Aires, highlighting ongoing impunity in high-profile cases involving terrorism and political cover-ups. Speakers including Sandra Arroyo Salgado and Joaquín Morales Solá addressed the audience, emphasizing the need for accountability and remembrance.

Commemoration of Nisman: A Decade of Impunity

Ten years have passed since the tragedy of the assassination of Natalio Alberto Nisman, and impunity still prevails. The AMIA and the attack on the Israeli Embassy also have decades of impunity and cover-ups. Despite attempts to silence the truth, it always manages to come to light.

There is no longer room to speak of suicide in the Nisman case; the idea of betrayal and murder is evident. At a commemorative event at AMIA, prominent speakers such as Waldo Wolff, Sandra Arroyo Salgado, and Joaquín Morales Solá expressed with indignation, truth, and memory their feelings about it.

Sandra Arroyo Salgado, Nisman’s ex-wife, provided her testimony with the force that comes from knowing the file firsthand. The story has been woven with terrible events of terrorism, cover-ups, and betrayals, overshadowing justice and allowing the same protagonists to remain in their constant impunity.

The meeting showcased the presence of political and judicial figures who at some point took various stances regarding the case. Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was directly accused of covering up and trying to discredit the prosecutor. Joaquín Morales Solá shared what was his last conversation with Nisman before his tragic death.

Diego Lagomarsino, Nisman’s collaborator, was pointed out for delivering the weapon that ended his life. Pain and helplessness marked the commemorative event, where the vulnerability of the Jewish community in the face of terrorism, state abandonment, and political interests was recalled.

Institutionalized impunity has been a constant in Argentina's history in cases such as the attack on the Israeli embassy in 1992, the AMIA tragedy in 1994, and Nisman’s assassination in 2015. The words of those present at the event remembered the cruelty of the events and the lack of justice that still prevails.

Figures such as former intelligence agent Antonio "Jaime" Stiuso have also been mentioned in relation to the investigated events. The fight for truth and justice in these emblematic cases remains a pending task in Argentine society.
