Increased Building Collapses Raise Concerns in Buenos Aires

In the neighborhood of Caballito, a 65-year-old woman was injured after the roof of the swimming pool she was in collapsed. This incident, which occurred recently, is the first of its kind this year in the Federal Capital, where collapses often have fatal consequences.

Another unfortunate event took place on February 8, when a 78-year-old man and his 80-year-old sister died due to the collapse of a construction site that also affected a neighboring house in Caballito. This incident occurred before a storm, according to city authorities.

On February 27, a portion of masonry from an old building collapsed near the Carlos Pellegrini school in Recoleta, without causing injuries. Unfortunately, on March 1, two workers lost their lives after the collapse of a construction site in Palermo. One died at the scene and the other due to injuries at the hospital.

On March 6, in Caballito, a wall from a construction site fell without leaving victims. In another incident in Belgrano, two workers were injured, and one of them was trapped under the rubble. They were rescued and taken to the hospital with injuries of varying severity.

In August, different collapse incidents marked the city. A wall from a construction site in Abasto collapsed, injuring a man. In San Cristóbal, an old house undergoing demolition crumbled, while in Palermo, two bricklayers were injured and were rescued after being trapped under the rubble.

These events highlight the increasing frequency of collapses in the City of Buenos Aires, a problem that seems to lack a definitive solution.
