Furfaro's Opioid Ampoules Found in Dead Nurse's Apartment

Buenos Aires, April 7 (NA) — Ariel García Furfaro, who is being prosecuted in the case of contaminated fentanyl, is once again at the center of a controversy after it was confirmed that ampoules of the opioid from HLB Pharma S.A.'s laboratory were found in the apartment of the nurse who was found dead. The laboratory belongs to Furfaro and holds certificate No. 53.100. Production under this certificate has been stopped following an alert from ANMAT linked to deaths. According to an investigation by Agencia Noticias Argentinas, three ampoules of the opioid from Furfaro's HLB Pharma S.A. laboratory were found in the kitchen of the apartment of nurse Eduardo Bentancourt, whose body was found on April 3 at Fray Justo Santa María de Oro 2428, in Palermo. His case is being analyzed as part of the investigation into the use of propofol and fentanyl by doctors. 'The number 53.100 on the packaging is the certificate that authorizes the laboratory to produce and manufacture, but HLB Pharma can no longer do so because the laboratory is closed,' sources close to the case explained. Despite many doubts, it is highly probable that the ampoules found in the nurse's home are linked to the batch that was diverted. 'It is very likely that they took them from the ampoules they had to return,' the same sources added.
