The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and possible hail in Buenos Aires and the surrounding metropolitan area. According to the Argentine News Agency, the rain will not lower temperatures, and the heat and humidity felt in recent days will continue throughout the AMBA area. The SMN alert is in effect for Wednesday, April 1st. Rain is expected in the morning, but the worst of the weather will arrive in the evening. After 8 PM, rain and storms of varying intensity, some locally strong, are expected in the Federal Capital and its surroundings. These will be accompanied mainly by abundant precipitation, electrical activity, occasional hail, and gusts of wind reaching up to 80 km/h. Accumulated precipitation values between 30 and 70 mm are forecast, which may be exceeded in isolated areas. Recommendations from the National Meteorological Service: Avoid going out. Do not take out the trash and clean drains and sewers. Disconnect appliances and cut off the power supply if water enters. Close and stay away from doors and windows. Remove or secure objects that could be blown away by the wind. If you are outdoors, seek immediate shelter in a building, house, or closed vehicle.
