Three die in Buenos Aires due to gas leak

Buenos Aires, Feb 2 (NA) -- A 32-year-old nanny and two children, aged 2 and 4, whom she was caring for, died on Monday as a result of a gas leak in the apartment where they were located in the Villa Devoto neighborhood. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that personnel from the City Police's 11th B Neighborhood Police station became aware of the situation around 6:00 PM after a 911 call from the children's mother, who reported that the three victims were unconscious inside a home located at Mercedes 4400. City Firefighters and the SAME also responded to the scene, where they confirmed the death of the 32-year-old woman and arranged for the minors to be taken to Zubizarreta Hospital. However, it was later learned that the children, aged 2 and 4, died at the medical center. Personnel from the company Metrogas also attended the scene, proceeding to cut off the gas supply, and the reasons for the leak are now under investigation. The National Prosecutor's Office for Criminal and Correctional Matters No. 13, headed by Marcelo Roma, is involved in the case, and proceedings have been initiated to 'investigate the causes of death.'
