As confirmed by the Argentine News Agency, in 2014, his life took an unexpected turn after suffering a domestic accident that caused him to lose vision in one of his eyes. At 41 years old, Mesaglio recalled that a fall in the bathroom caused a bottle of ethyl alcohol to spill and part of the liquid entered his eye, causing irreversible damage. Since then, the actor has gone through a long and complex medical path. "I come from seven vision surgeries, where the sixth was an emergency corneal transplant that became infected a month later," he had recounted in a past interview. In recent hours, Mesaglio shared the news he had been waiting for the most since the accident on the streaming program 'Modo Zapping' on Public TV. "Last Wednesday was very crazy. Quick to correct himself, Mesaglio clarified: 'Eleven years. There were a thousand stories in these nine years,' he noted. 'Yes, we have your cornea.'" The actor admitted that he was struck by the naturalness with which he was given the news. "'Wait, do you know you're talking to a person who has been waiting for this call for nine years?'" he recalled saying to the person who contacted him. He also recalled a previous experience that reflects the anxiety and emotional burden he has carried for years. "The last time I received a call from Hospital de Clínicas, I saw it said 'cornea', I put down the phone, don't ask me why, I got out of the car and started running," he recounted, showing the intensity with which he lives every advance in his fight to regain his vision.
