Buenos Aires, Dec 22 (NA) – Gynecologist Diego Javier Clementi has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for abusing his patients as they went to his office, sources close to the case told the Argentine News Agency.
The court declared Clementi criminally responsible for sexual abuse with carnal access, gravely offensive in five cases, and gravely offensive in real conjunction with carnal access in three cases.
Clementi will serve his sentence under house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor, while the Oral Criminal Court No. 3 of Lomas de Zamora has prohibited him from leaving the country.
Furthermore, he has been banned for life from practicing medicine and must provide DNA samples to be included in the National Registry of Genetic Data linked to Crimes against Sexual Integrity (RNDG).
According to the investigation, the attacks committed by Clementi occurred between 2017 and 2022. After winning the trust of his patients, the professional would take advantage of medical check-ups and tests to abuse them.
Earlier this year, Claudia Perugino, lawyer for several of the victims, denounced that the accused was still seeing patients at a clinic in Sur Gametos.
