A deputy from Unión por la Patria (UxP), Eduardo Valdés, presented this Friday a bill to establish May 13 as the 'National Day of Memory for the Victims of Adulterated Fentanyl and Pharmaceutical Safety'. The date refers to the beginning of the judicial investigation into the worst health crisis due to drug adulteration since the creation of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT). 'May 13 is not just a date: it is the moment when the State recognized an avoidable tragedy and began to act in the face of a chain of failures that cost lives,' Valdés emphasized. The initiative, to which the Argentine News Agency had access, establishes that every May 13 the State must carry out official activities, publish the Annual Health Safety Report prepared by ANMAT, and hold memorial, prevention, and awareness-raising events in hospitals and universities. In addition, an official act with the victims' families and health authorities must be held. It also provides for the updating of surveillance, traceability, and response protocols in health emergencies caused by adulterated medicines. 'The final objective is clear: memory, control, and prevention.'
