Garrahan Hospital Workers Protest Against 'Fake' Disciplinary Actions

Workers at Argentina's Garrahan Hospital protested against what they call 'fake' disciplinary measures, accusing the interim administrator and health minister of trying to divert attention from corruption and defund the institution.

Garrahan Hospital Workers Protest Against 'Fake' Disciplinary Actions

Workers at the Garrahan Hospital, grouped in the Association of Professionals and Technicians (APyT), held another protest on Wednesday to repudiate the 'fake' disciplinary investigations initiated against several employees for 'alleged acts of coercion and usurpation.' They also targeted the hospital's intervenor, Mariano Pirozzo, and the Minister of Health, Mario Lugones, for sanctions and for 'improvising baseless cases' with the aim of shifting focus from the 'important events' that occurred at the hospital and covering up others happening within the Ministry's orbit. In an interview with the Argentine News Agency (NA), APyT's general secretary, Norma Lezana, who was also among the sanctioned workers, called for a town hall meeting 'to repudiate the measure and call for unity' against the labor reforms promoted by the government. 'This call is once again due to our unwavering mission: to defend the Garrahan Hospital from those who want to strip it of resources, defund it, and convert it into a business tool. Will they continue to punish people with disabilities while the money disappears and corrupt deals are made?' Lezana stated. After months of demands and warnings about the resignations of highly valuable professionals, we built a major social movement that, together with the workers, defended Garrahan and won. What is happening to the 3% from (Diego) Spagnuolo, Karina Milei, and ANDIS?
