The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a yellow alert for the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) due to the forecast of strong storms for this afternoon and evening. In some areas of the province, such as Luján and surroundings, the first precipitation has already been recorded.
According to the SMN, storms of varying intensity are expected in much of the province of Buenos Aires, including the Autonomous City, as well as in towns in the south of Entre Ríos. It is anticipated that precipitation will begin during the afternoon of this Sunday and intensify towards the evening, when the probability of rain will reach 70%.
The rainfall will be accompanied by strong electrical activity, the possibility of hail, intense gusts, and, mainly, abundant precipitation in short periods of time. The yellow alert issued by the SMN implies that the affected areas could experience meteorological phenomena with potential risk, although they are of a mild to moderate nature.
In this case, locally strong storms are anticipated with accumulated precipitation values that could range between 20 and 50 millimeters. Regarding the center of the country and the Pampas region, the forecast indicates similar conditions, with isolated storms during the afternoon and evening, and a probability of precipitation of 40%.
Temperatures are expected to range between 17°C and 25°C, with winds from the southeast that could reach 31 kilometers per hour during the afternoon.
