Severe Weather Alert in Buenos Aires

The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will be under a yellow alert for strong storms, wind gusts, and possible hail during Sunday, as indicated by the latest forecast from the National Meteorological Service (SMN). Both the City and the Province of Buenos Aires will be affected by this climatic instability, with rain intensifying throughout the afternoon.

According to the SMN, storms are expected to manifest with greater intensity between 6 PM and midnight on Sunday, with a compact formation moving from the northwest towards the Río de la Plata. In light of this situation, the City Government and the municipalities of the suburban area have activated emergency operations, urging the population to stay informed through official channels.

Regarding the detailed forecast, moderate rain is expected around 2 AM, with an estimated rate of 6.7 mm per hour. Between 5 AM and 8 AM, a progressive decrease in the intensity of the rain is anticipated, although it will persist weakly with moderate southeast winds. It is expected that by noon on Monday, the climatic outlook will begin to stabilize, with no new alerts in effect.

To follow the storm's progress in real time, it is recommended to use the interactive map of Windy.com, allowing users to visualize minute by minute how the storm front moves over the metropolitan region. The moment of greatest intensity is expected to occur between 8 PM and 11 PM, with a high probability of precipitation, hail, and accumulations that could exceed 70 millimeters in specific areas.

Additionally, southeast winds with gusts of up to 35 km/h and frequent electrical activity are expected. Light rain will begin around 6 PM, becoming complicated with the presence of thunderstorms starting at 7 PM. The SMN advises avoiding outdoor activities, not seeking shelter under trees or poles, and not taking out the trash to prevent blockages in the drainage systems.

Rain is expected to persist during the early morning of Monday, May 5, with a gradual improvement in weather conditions by noon on that same day.
