Increase in Child Disappearances in Buenos Aires

In Argentina, the organization Missing Children continues to search for 77 missing persons, among them are 42 people who went missing when they were children and are now adults. Some cases are up to 30 years old, like that of MarĂa Fernanda Aragunde, who disappeared in 1995. Ana Rosa, the president of Missing Children Argentina, explained that they continue to disseminate the cases because they believe that one should never stop searching for those who are missing.

In situations where a child does not appear after a long time, the organization maintains contact with the families and respects their wishes. Ana Rosa indicated that they are receiving more and more reports of adolescents leaving their homes at a young age, and expressed her concern about this increase. She highlighted that many disappearances occur in Greater Buenos Aires, mostly involving female adolescents.

The president of Missing Children Argentina also mentioned that they are receiving an average of five to six reports daily and pointed out that in some cases, the justice system stops searching for the missing. In these circumstances, the organization continues to disseminate the information from the first day of the disappearance until the person is found.

In some cases, when a lot of time has passed since the disappearance, they use artificial intelligence to create an updated image of the missing person. While they always try to talk to the families before disseminating a case, sometimes there are families that change their minds about making the information public.
