
Legal gaming companies, lotteries from across the country, representatives from banks and credit card companies gathered to align strategies to prevent minors from accessing betting platforms. The meeting took place during a debate day as part of the International Day of Responsible Gambling at the Palermo Hippodrome.
Among the main conclusions of the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of combating illegal gambling, which is the most common way for minors to engage in this activity. It was also agreed to advance awareness campaigns across the country.
Gonzalo Atanasof, head of the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casino of Buenos Aires, highlighted the event's relevance to enrich joint strategies and make more informed decisions. In the province of Buenos Aires, this issue is addressed through an inter-jurisdictional council.
Ida López, President of the Mendoza Lottery and the Association of Argentine State Lotteries (ALEA), emphasized the importance of these meetings to raise awareness and convey the message to vulnerable sectors, seeking to prevent the consequences of gambling on illegal platforms.
Jesús Acevedo, president of the Buenos Aires City Lottery, highlighted the campaign "Talking is Winning" as a measure to prevent childhood gambling addiction. He also emphasized the importance of establishing connections with the private sector and sharing solutions with other lotteries.
The event featured various experts, including Florencia Casabella from the Potenciar Foundation, Diego Slipak, a doctor from the Ibero-American Foundation for Public Health, and psychologists specialized in gambling. Additionally, representatives from banks and credit card companies were present, as they are often the means through which minors access betting systems, mainly illegal ones.
On the other hand, from the AFA, Andrés Paton Urich, Legal Affairs Manager, expressed optimism about the joint work with legal sites to educate players of all ages and prevent match-fixing through an interdisciplinary team.
In the same vein, representatives from betting companies such as BetWarrior, Betsson, Bplay Betfun, Casino Buenos Aires, Casino Magic Neuquén, and Casino Club were present.
