The news of Liam Payne's death shook the world on October 16, 2024. The singer passed away after falling from the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel, where he was staying in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Autopsies conducted on the remains of the British singer revealed that he consumed illegal substances moments before his death. So far, two people have been arrested and three others charged in the case, as investigations led to blaming the employees of the aforementioned hotel for supplying drugs to the 'Strip That Down' performer.
On his official Instagram account, J Balvin shared a photo next to the former One Direction member, with the text: 'Rest in peace, my friend Liam Payne.' The Colombian artist was invited to the podcast 'Real Men Cry,' hosted by Juan Pablo Raba, where he opened up about various situations in his daily life and addressed Liam's death.
"These days after what happened with Liam Payne, I said: 'What's up,'" Balvin mentioned, explaining that he was about to suffer a crisis and resorted to medication to control his anxiety: 'I had to take my little pill, the one I take to sleep, I took it early (...) my brain came back, and it settled down.' In conclusion about the topic, he spoke about the importance of mental health and how dangerous addictions are: 'We need to know about mental health, but also be very aware of drugs and where they lead us.'
