The City Police carried out a successful operation in the neighborhoods of Mitre, Saavedra, and Congreso, achieving the dismantling of a dangerous organization dedicated to drug trafficking. During the operation, five members of the criminal gang were arrested. A total of 321 packages of cocaine, eleven "bricks" of pressed marijuana, more than four kilograms of marijuana, a significant amount of cocaine, firearms, and 748,800 pesos in cash were seized.
According to official information, this gang had been operating for ten months with the goal of trafficking drugs worth 5,800,000 pesos. The estimated value of the seized drugs highlights the scale of the operation and the importance of dismantling this criminal organization. Each package of cocaine typically weighs around 1 gram.
Among the confiscated items were two digital scales, a .45 caliber pistol, several cell phones, and a Jeep Compass vehicle containing 34 packages of cocaine inside. The investigation that led to this operation began in April of last year when the Anti-Drug Investigations Division Zone I of the City Police detected suspicious activities related to drug sales in the area.
The organization's modus operandi included using "lookouts" to alert about police presence and conceal illicit transactions taking place at specific sales points within the neighborhood. The lack of significant drug operations in neighborhoods previously identified as sensitive areas underscores the importance of operations like this to effectively combat drug trafficking.
