
During the match between River and Atlético Mineiro from Brazil, corresponding to the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals, the City Police carried out an operation that resulted in the detention of 12 people and the capture of a fugitive. Among those arrested, three were apprehended for thefts and muggings, while the other three were captured for throwing stones at the Mineiro fans' bus.
One of the arrested was a 24-year-old man who was wanted by the Justice of Santiago del Estero for theft. In addition, a total of 317 administrative violations were documented during the operation. Four of the detainees were family members and were apprehended when one of them resisted being searched and assaulted an officer at a checkpoint to access El Monumental.
Two other arrests were made due to scams related to the sale of fake wristbands for access to the match. The reasons for other detentions varied, from entry without tickets, admission rights, attempts to enter with fireworks to cases of resale. Additionally, 28 car guards were fined under this operation. A fugitive was captured by the City Police, thus expanding the results of the police intervention.
