Starting this Monday, March 30, several highways and strategic access roads in Buenos Aires will have total closures and overnight detours due to a plan for expansion and modernization works that will affect circulation during the early morning. The works will begin daily at 10:00 PM and extend until the early hours of the next day, with scheduled interruptions on different sections of the Illia Highway, Cantilo Avenue, Paseo del Bajo, and Dellepiane Highway. One of the most affected points will be the Illia Highway, which will remain closed in the northbound direction for several hours, forcing traffic to be diverted to alternative arteries such as Figueroa Alcorta Avenue and Del Libertador Avenue. In the southern area, meanwhile, the Dellepiane Highway will register cuts in different directions to advance the construction of a new vehicular and pedestrian bridge, as well as tasks for concreting and pavement renewal. The restrictions will also impact access to key points, such as Jorge Newbery Airport and Ezeiza International Airport, so it is recommended for those who must travel to anticipate delays and leave with more advance notice. Additionally, authorities informed that there will be modifications in the routes of several bus lines, which could generate additional delays in public transport during the nights in which the works are carried out. In this scenario, drivers are advised to plan their trips in advance and opt for alternative routes such as General Paz Avenue, in addition to the main arteries already mentioned. The plan of works aims to improve daily circulation on corridors through which thousands of vehicles travel, increase road safety and optimize connectivity between different points of the City and the conurbation. It also includes the incorporation of exclusive lanes for public transport, improvements in signage and hydraulic works to reduce flooding.
