The company COSUD, behind the collapse of a building in the Parque Patricios neighborhood of Buenos Aires, issued a statement explaining that the bent window, whose image went viral in recent hours and caused a new evacuation, is not related to the case. According to the construction company, the window belongs to a project carried out by third parties unaffiliated with COSUD. In the statement, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, COSUD reported that, together with the Buenos Aires City's General Directorate of Civil Defense and Emergency Services, it has confirmed that the damage shown in the photograph has no connection whatsoever with the collapse of a sector of the basement on March 3rd. In this regard, they clarified that the affected window «corresponds to a project modification carried out by third parties, unaffiliated with COSUD, after the completion of the work». This response came after a new evacuation that residents had to endure, who had been authorized to return to their apartments days earlier. The construction company emphasized that «no detachment of masonry, cracks, or alterations to the original structure were observed» and that the window «is in a sector of the building that does not have a basement, so what happened to it has no relation to what happened» in early March. «The General Directorate of Civil Defense and Emergency Services of the City of Buenos Aires has not modified the decision previously made, so the lifting of the closure remains in effect,» they informed.
