Buenos Aires, March 23 (NA) -- A boat caught fire on Lake Nahuel Huapi, in front of the San Pedro Peninsula, and the only crew member jumped into the water to survive and was rescued by a nearby boat, according to the Argentine News Agency. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the Naval Prefecture was alerted by a person who had jumped into the lake to escape the fire on their boat and was rescued by a vessel that was nearby. Upon arriving at the scene, the force's personnel found the crew member on the coast, who stated that he had jumped into the water after noticing fire in the engine area. The man indicated that he was in good health. It was also confirmed that the boat sank completely about 100 meters from the coast, with no spills detected. The operation was carried out jointly by the Naval Prefecture, Civil Protection, and the Campanario Volunteer Firefighters.
