Buenos Aires, March 22 (NA) -- The Galileo Galilei Planetarium will host a special event to kick off its 'Science Encounters 2026' season. Titled 'The Universe Has a Woman's Face,' it will inaugurate a year entirely dedicated to celebrating the female contribution to knowledge, with an initiative aimed at highlighting the work and perspective of women scientists who today are expanding the frontiers of the cosmos. The event will take place on Friday, March 27, at 7:00 PM. On this occasion, three distinguished Argentine researchers and science communicators will lead an open talk on astrobiology, black holes, and the challenges of communicating science today. The special program proposes a journey through the great mysteries of the universe under the Planetarium's imposing dome, while the central activity will be an open conversation that will cross paths of excellence with a passion for public science communication, according to an report accessed by the Argentine News Agency. In turn, the dialogue table will be integrated by Dr. Ximena Abrevaya, a pioneer researcher and author of the first doctoral thesis in Astrobiology in Argentina; Dr. Florencia Vieyro, a specialist in relativistic astrophysics (UNLP) dedicated to the study of extreme physical processes in the vicinity of black holes; and Dr. Estefanía Coluccio Leskow, a doctor in Physical Sciences (UBA) with an international career and current operational manager of the Planetarium. Through this encounter, the specialists will share what it is like to investigate, develop complex codes to understand magnetized plasmas or trace the origin of life in other worlds, while working day by day to awaken new scientific vocations. The event proposes an accessible and participatory space for young people and adults, reaffirming the Planetarium's commitment to quality dissemination, while it is an activity that will have a capacity of 250 attendees and admission will be free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
