Buenos Aires Police Arrest Thieves Attempting to Steal SUV

Buenos Aires police have arrested two thieves, one a minor and the other with a criminal record, as they attempted to steal a high-end SUV by smashing one of its windows. According to police sources, the incident began when officers from the 13th Neighborhood Police Station were conducting a routine patrol and spotted two suspicious individuals loitering near parked vehicles on Virrey Loreto at 2000. The suspects fled as soon as they saw the officers. In response, the police detained both: one just a few meters away and the other around the corner on O'Higgins Street at 1500. Before being intercepted, one of them dropped a backpack containing a screwdriver and an automotive ECU computer. During a search of the area, officers found a parked Toyota SW4 with its right rear side window shattered and its electrical system tampered with. The detainees, a 24-year-old with prior convictions for aggravated concealment (December 18, 2025, and January 12, 2026) and a 17-year-old, were remanded to the National Court for Minors 6, under Judge Carlos Federico Cociancich, Secretary 16 of Nicolás Eugenio Renom, who ordered the minor to be transferred to the Inchausti Institute.
