Buenos Aires, March 12 (NA) – Residents evacuated from the Estación Buenos Aires complex in the Parque Patricios neighborhood called for a peaceful demonstration and a hug for the affected building to demand justice and answers from the City Government and the construction company COSUD, responsible for the work.
The call was launched by the 175 affected families due to the collapse that occurred on March 3, when the slab of the internal patio of sector 2 of the complex collapsed, causing serious structural damage and the destruction of more than 60 cars parked in the basement.
The demonstration will take place this Saturday, March 14, at 12:00 PM at the corner of Montesquieu and Astor Piazzolla, near the urban complex. According to what the neighbors reported and Noticias Argentinas was able to ascertain, the objective of the meeting will be to make visible the situation that the residents are going through and to demand that responsibilities for the collapse be determined.
In parallel, the affected people asked both the City Government and the construction company to provide official information about future actions and the safety conditions of the building, while judicial investigations are underway to determine the causes of the collapse.
Currently, the affected families continue to be evacuated in different hotels in the center of the City of Buenos Aires, where they remain temporarily lodged while it is decided if they can return to their homes. The neighbors also denounced that in some cases they are facing overcrowding, which worsens the situation generated after the collapse.
