Buenos Aires, March 5 (NA) -- Wanda Taddei, the young woman who was murdered by the drummer of Callejeros, Eduardo Vázquez, in February 2010, will be honored with a mural that will be inaugurated this Friday in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Mataderos, where her family will continue to demand that the femicide not be granted temporary leave. In an interview with the Argentine News Agency, Jorge Taddei, the victim's father, confirmed that the event will take place at 6:30 PM at the home of Directorio and Araujo: "We have done very good work because women's groups from different unions and organizations across the country will participate." "We need a significant turnout at this time when there is a rise in femicides and the possible temporary release of Vázquez," states the call from Jorge and his wife Beatriz. In this regard, the 84-year-old man indicated that emails were sent to Axel López, judge of Criminal Execution No. 3, about the mobilization with the aim of not granting the benefit to the murderer. Vázquez is on a one-year probationary period after the magistrate denied his request in 2021, 2023, and 2024. According to Article 15 of Law 24.660, "the probationary period will consist of the systematic use of self-government methods and will successively include" various points, among them, "the possibility of obtaining temporary leave from the establishment." To enter the probationary period, it is necessary to meet these requirements: that the proposal to enter it comes from the result of the observation period and treatment verification; to have served a minimum of half the sentence, fifteen years for life sentences; to have no open cases or other pending convictions; and to have exemplary conduct and standing. On February 10, 2010, the victim and the aggressor were at their home, where they argued and the musician used a lighter to cause severe burns to the young woman. Wanda was taken to the Santojanni Hospital by her partner, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to the Burn Hospital, where she died after remaining hospitalized for eleven days. In June 2012, the Oral Court in Criminal Matters No. 20 of the Federal Capital sentenced Vázquez to 18 years in prison for the crime of qualified homicide due to the relationship, mitigated by its commission in a state of violent emotion. This sentence was unified with the penalties for the Cromañón tragedy, which occurred on December 30, 2004, and for the possession of marijuana plants. On September 18, 2013, following the appeal of the prosecution and the review of the ruling, the Chamber of Cassation dismissed the existence of that mitigating factor and aggravated the sentence to life imprisonment.
