Man Arrested for Halting Train Traffic in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, March 3 (NA) -- A man, apparently drunk, was arrested this afternoon after disrupting the traffic of a Tren Roca train traveling from Constitución to Alejandro Korn, in the southern suburbs. The unusual incident occurred at the Guernica station, one stop before the end of the line, when a man got onto the tracks shirtless and with a bladed weapon as the train approached. This forced the driver to make a sharp maneuver, causing great tension among the people on the platform and the passengers. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, the man, who was behaving erratically, hid under a car when he was surrounded, but finally three police officers managed to subdue him and arrest him. Once the situation was under control and the detainee was taken to the local police station, service was restored. The company reported that circulation operated with 'delays derived from the emergency procedure' carried out due to the man's intrusion onto the tracks.
