The streaming platform Netflix confirmed the start of filming for “Felicidades”, a new production made in Argentina and based on the successful play of the same name. It will be starring Adrián Suar and Griselda Siciliani, directed by renowned Spanish filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia, who is arriving in the country for the first time to direct a film for the streaming giant. According to the Argentine News Agency, the story brings to the cinema an acid comedy centered on a marriage in crisis, and Suar's character tries to recover harmony by organizing a surprise birthday party for his wife, played by Siciliani. However, what begins as an ideal night turns into chaos when a medium appears and the guests are trapped in an atmosphere charged with tensions, secrets, and uncomfortable truths in a house that seems to take center stage. The film is being shot entirely in Buenos Aires and brings together a first-line cast: Benjamín Vicuña, Violeta Urtizberea, Mike Amigorena, Martín Garabal, Mónica Raiola, and the special participation of Diego Capusotto. Behind the production is Preludio, and the project marks the first collaboration between Álex de la Iglesia and a Netflix film made in Argentina, positioning itself as one of the platform's strong bets for the year. The director shared his vision on the adaptation and the spirit of the original work: “I am not interested in happiness as a goal but as a conflict. Having a director of Álex de la Iglesia's caliber filming in Argentina is a true luxury and a huge boost for our industry.” Likewise, he celebrated the artistic reunion with Siciliani and the platform's support: “I thank Netflix for the trust and for accompanying Preludio in this great project.” “The characters seek redemption in a grotesque, cruel, and humorous way, because it is the most honest language I know.” He also celebrated the artistic encounter with the Argentine team: “For me, it is a luxury to work with this cast, which understood to perfection the search for truth in chaos.
