Buenos Aires, December 22 (NA) – A 54-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter died when their motorcycle collided with a car on Route 2, as the Justice Department investigates the incident as negligent homicide.
Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the smaller vehicle was being driven by Alberto Weinbender, who was traveling with his daughter, Bárbara Morena Weinbender. Both were residents of the Avellaneda district in Buenos Aires province.
For reasons still under investigation, the Gilera Voge DS900X motorcycle, license plate A-238-IIT, crashed from behind into a gray Volkswagen Polo Classic, registration FZS-052.
As a result of the violent crash, the young woman suffered a skull fracture and was urgently transferred to the Alejandro Korn Hospital in Melchor Romero. While waiting for a second ambulance to assist her father, he died at the scene. Hours later, her death was also confirmed at the same hospital.
The car's driver, 25-year-old Matías Maljar, from La Plata, was unharmed and has been charged with negligent homicide.
The Federal Prosecutor's Office No. 14, along with the Guarantees Court No. 2, both belonging to the La Plata Judicial Department, are handling the case.
Upon learning of the accident, the prosecutor's secretary, Patricia Tassano, ordered the performance of expert examinations to clarify what happened.
