Buenos Aires, December 16 (NA) — A firefighter died and three others were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred on Route 201 and Avenida Márquez when a Volkswagen Vento traveling at high speed struck four firefighters who were extinguishing a fire in an unlit grassy area. Police from the Morón 6th Precinct and the emergency services responded. According to sources cited by the Argentine News Agency, they found the vehicle and the injured firefighters at the scene. All injured individuals were transported to the Posadas Hospital and later to the Bocalandro Hospital. Despite medical attention, authorities later confirmed that 33-year-old Matías Di Paolo had died from his severe injuries. The injured were identified as Micaela Quipildor, 26; Milagros Barrionuevo, 30; and Matías Henrich, 19. Following the incident, several fire stations across Buenos Aires sent their condolences and highlighted the dangers of the profession. The driver, identified as 54-year-old César Cervantes, was charged with negligent homicide.
