Argentine Air Traffic Controllers Announce Pre-Holiday Strike

The ATEPSA union of air traffic controllers has announced a series of strikes before Christmas, leading to flight cancellations and delays nationwide. The reason for the action was the breakdown of negotiations with the management of the air navigation company.

Argentine Air Traffic Controllers Announce Pre-Holiday Strike

The union of air traffic controllers, ATEPSA, has announced a strike schedule affecting both domestic and international flights in the days leading up to the end-of-year holidays.

The first strike will be on December 17 from 8 to 11 a.m., affecting the departure of domestic flights. The second is scheduled for December 18 from 4 to 7 p.m., also impacting domestic departures. The third was set for December 23 from 7 to 11 p.m.

The fourth strike is scheduled for December 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. and will affect international flights at all airports in the country. The schedule culminates on December 29 from 8 to 11 a.m., with an impact on all aviation at all airports.

The measure is a consequence of the failure of negotiations with the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA), in the context of a conflict that ATEPSA denounces due to the breach of agreements and the absence of dialogue since 2024.

The union specified that all operations of aircraft declared in an emergency, as well as those providing sanitary, humanitarian, state, or search and rescue services, are exempt from the measure.

The union confirmed its decision to carry out the strikes despite a hearing scheduled for the next Wednesday, December 17, at 10 a.m. in the Secretariat of Labor.
