Woman Known as 'Black Widow' Arrested in Argentina

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested and is being investigated on suspicion of two robberies committed under the so-called 'black widow' modus operandi. Although the crimes were committed in the Buenos Aires neighborhoods of Núñez and Caballito, the suspect was apprehended in the Río Negro town of Choele Choel. According to the Argentine News Agency, based on information from Fiscales.gob, the arrest was ordered by the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 49, supported by an investigation conducted by the District Prosecutor's Offices of the Saavedra and Núñez neighborhoods. The accusation states that the suspect arranged meetings through social networks, seduced her victims, then rendered them unconscious with sedatives to enter their homes and steal their belongings. The first robbery occurred on April 8 in Núñez, where the accused drugged her victim during a meeting, stealing cash, electronic devices, personal items, and even communication tools. The accused and her victim were drinking, and she supplied him with a narcotic, causing him to lose consciousness. She then took possession of 150,000 pesos, a mobile phone, wireless headphones, kitchen appliances, two suitcases, a CPU, two walkie-talkies, and a video camera. The second episode took place on May 30 in Caballito, ending with loot valued at approximately $4,000, multiple electronic devices, clothing, accessories, and valuable items; she even accessed the victim's virtual wallet to make purchases and transfers for over 5.5 million pesos. This theft took place on Pujol Street at 900. She had contacted the man via messaging and arranged a meeting at his home, where using the same method and in addition to the money, she stole several cell phones, a notebook, an electric guitar with a case, gold earrings, a watch, several garments, a perfume, and made several transfers from the virtual wallet until reaching the mentioned amount in pesos. The woman was located in Río Negro after having fled. She was questioned yesterday by the judge in charge of the case and denied the charges against her. Nevertheless, she was detained at the 71st sub-commissariat of the Río Negro Police, pending a possible oral trial.
