Buenos Aires, November 30 (NA) — A serious road accident occurred this morning on the 25 de Mayo Highway, near Parque Chacabuco towards Ezeiza.
The incident took place around 8:00 a.m. when the driver of a pickup truck, traveling in the slow lane, lost control after hitting the shoulder and bouncing off a concrete guardrail. The vehicle then swerved into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with another car traveling in the opposite direction.
According to witnesses cited by the Argentine News Agency, the pickup truck crossed the center line of the highway and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the second car, who was alone, suffered multiple trauma and cuts and was quickly taken to the Piñero Hospital.
Police from the City of Buenos Aires, personnel from the AUSA concessionaire, and highway emergency services worked at the scene. Investigations are focused on determining the cause of the loss of control, considering the possibility that the driver may have fallen asleep or been distracted by a mobile phone.
