62-year-old criminal detained for truck robbery in Buenos Aires

A 62-year-old criminal, accused of participating in a "pirate of the asphalt" truck robbery loaded with high-end mobile phones, was detained in the Buenos Aires locality of Ramos Mejía by officers of the City Police. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the operation carried out by the City Police was the result of an investigation conducted by the Division of Community Investigations (DIC) 4 following the report of a truck driver who stated that while transporting electronic devices and high-end phones, upon arriving in the city of Avellaneda, he was robbed by two men traveling in a Peugeot Partner van. According to the victim's account, the companion got out of the vehicle at gunpoint and forced him to drive the truck to the area of Commune 4, where he made him get out and remain face down on the floor while he and his accomplice fled in an unknown direction. The investigators launched a thorough investigation that included field work in both the City and the Province of Buenos Aires, the analysis of public and private security cameras, checking the license plate readers of the Digital Ring, and triangulating the criminals' calls until they managed to locate the driver of the Partner in the locality of Ramos Mejía. After notifying the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 50, under the direction of Carlos Bruniard and secretariat No. 51 of Marcela Cabeza Díaz, the corresponding search warrant was issued for the domicile located on Rondeau Street at 1300, and the operation was notified to the Guarantees Court No. 2 of La Matanza, under the direction of assistant Florencia Matías. City Police officers arrived at the residence where they found the 62-year-old suspect and seized documentation corresponding to the stolen items, four mobile phones, and the Peugeot Partner van used during the crime.
