The Buenos Aires Fire Department's fire and explosion investigation unit is conducting inspections on Riglos Street, between Formosa and Juan B. Alberdi Avenue, following a gas leak and fire in the Caballito neighborhood that left two men injured, one with severe burns, and caused damage to local businesses. According to sources familiar with the case, the investigation began on Thursday morning, and the case has now been handed over to the judiciary. To carry out the necessary tasks, the perimeter in the area remains in place to restrict vehicle traffic, although neighbors were able to sleep in their homes as there is no danger. At the end of the intense Wednesday, it became known that the Buenos Aires City government has demanded that the company Edesur and a contractor for Metrogas provide explanations within the first 24 hours. This is because the initial information is that Edesur workers were repairing the site when they broke the gas pipe. As a result of the incident, two men were injured. One is a garage worker who suffered masonry collapse, broken glass, and deformation of metal carpentry. An energy company worker was taken to the Burn Hospital with serious injuries, and a merchant was taken by the SAME emergency service to the Durand Hospital. In addition, two adjacent businesses were damaged.
